Expand student learning beyond the classroom
Address the educational needs of all students, including students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and students not successful in traditional classroom setting.
The EdRedi solution allows each teacher to view “in real-time” the work being done by each student. This allows the teacher visibility to know when a student is struggling or when a student needs more in depth content. By simply making 2 clicks on the screen, the teacher can send a differentiated lesson to the struggling student or an extension activity to the more advanced student. The new lesson just “magically” appears on the student’s screen. The teacher also has the ability to send an individual message of encouragement to an individual student or group of students.
When the teacher creates the daily lesson, a unique QR code is created. This QR code could be sent to a student in an in-school suspension program or sent to a resource teacher for a student with special needs. It allows for consistency of instruction across all student groups.
The lesson content can consist of purchased digital content from publishers, websites, PDF documents and the teacher tools in our pre-loaded content library. This variety of content allows the teacher to individualize the learning process for different students. No more cookie-cutter lessons!
With the EdRedi™ enabled tablets, the student will be able to easily use the camera and video recorder for outside projects. The teacher can assign homework projects and the security of the sofware ensures the students are directed to only the sites that the teacher has provisioned, even when outside of the school's network.
Digital content today is readily available but needs to be structured in such a way that the learning can happen sequentially. This does not mean just presenting apps on a tablet. The content may be a streaming video of a MIT professor showing an archeological dig or an astronomer discussing new galaxies. This digital content comes in many forms and can be customized for different students using the EdRedi™ software.
A strong technology tool in the hands of our students can provide access to teachers and lessons from around the world. We need to supply a secure technology device so students have access to the learning content, but do not have access to inappropriate sites, especially in grades K-6. Students will have many ways to demonstrate knowledge other than the traditional multiple choice, true/false assessment. Teachers could allow students to create a video essay with voice over narration. They may want selected students to be able to create a comic strip using ComicStripIt (pre-loaded on the tablet) to indicate comprehension of a reading passage. This will provide all types of learners with multiple options for expression.
Deliver Varied Content in Multiple Ways to Our Students
Increase Student Engagement through the use of Individual Technology Devices
To Our New York State Educators:
All of us at Educational Resources are excited to introduce you to a unique tablet device that is specifically designed for use in the classroom. Over the past three years, we have placed thousands of tablets in over 500 districts around the country. We have listened to the feedback from those customers and are pleased to bring the K-12 education community our newest tablet, the Acer EdRedi™ Bundle. Please look through the website to acquaint yourself with the technical specifications of the new Acer Iconia tablet.
Read the description of the meaning of “EdRedi™” – making the tablet “Ready for Education”. We think that means putting the focus on the actual lesson created by the teacher using amazing digital resources. We think that means making the tablet “ruggedized” with Gorilla Glass4, a rubber bumper case as well as a nylon folio. But the real educational value is in the EdRedi software that allows the teacher to control the learning environment and to know “in real-time” the work being done by each student. This allows the teacher to quickly differentiate lessons as needed by different learners. We think this is the ultimate objective of the Smart Schools Bond Fund – to change how we integrate technology into the classroom to improve teaching and learning.
We have developed some content for you to use as you make your applications to the state of NY. If we have not addressed your specific district technology objective, please let us know so we can help you draft an appropriate response. We will be happy to customize a response for your individual district needs. We look forward to hearing from you on how we can help you move forward.

The EdRedi™ software loaded on our approved Acer Iconia tablet allows teachers to share lessons easily. Different teachers have different approaches to teaching the lesson – some approaches may appeal to different students. Teachers can take on a particular topic or lesson sequence and those can be shared documents used by all teachers at the grade level or in the content vertical. No need for each teacher to re-invent the wheel – sharing saves time and gives students opportunities to experience the lesson from different perspectives.
When students have an individual device to use in class, we can assign various ways for the students to demonstrate knowledge. Some students may be inclined to do a photo essay, while another student may want to shoot a video to tell a story. Content knowledge could be determined with both activities. Simple multiple choice and true/false tests are no longer our only means of accessing knowledge acquisition.
